Michael Wells - Director of Bands

Mike Wells currently serves as the Director of Bands for Plymouth-Canton Educational Park in Canton, MI. Mike holds a B.M. in Euphonium Performance from Western Michigan University and Post-Baccalaureate teaching certificate in music from Westfield State University in Westfield, MA.

Prior to his appointment, Mike served as Associate Director and worked extensively with the nationally acclaimed Plymouth-Canton Educational Park Marching Band. During his time at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, the P-CEP Band program has earned consistent superior ratings at MSBOA district and state band festival, in addition to performing twice as a premier ensemble at the Michigan Music Conference, and once at the Western Michigan University Spring Conference. Students from P-CEP have also had the distinct pleasure of consistently representing the program on a state level as members of the MSBOA All-State ensembles each year.

Mike oversees the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park Band Program, an all-inclusive program drawing from more than 6,200 students in attending 3 high schools on the same campus. The P-CEP Band program hosts 12 performing ensembles including five concert ensembles classes, Marching Band, two Winter Guards, Winter Percussion, three Jazz Bands, and several chamber ensembles.

During his time at P-CEP, the Plymouth-Canton Marching Band has been awarded several MCBA State Championship, BOA Regional Finalist, and BOA Grand National Semi-Finalist awards.

In addition to serving as Director of Bands at P-CEP, Mike is also a sought after drill writer, designing ensembles across the country. In the past several years, these ensembles have enjoyed several KMEA State Championships, WSMA State Championships, BOA Super-Regional Finalist Appearances, MCBA State Finals Appearances, and WGI Finalist Appearances. Mike has had the privilege of designing Internationally as well, having designed drill for the DCE Champion and DCI Open Class Finalist Jubal Drum & Bugle Corps from Dordrecht, Holland. Additionally, Mike has been actively involved in the drum corps activity since 2008 and served in several roles for many corps, including the Boston Crusaders, Blue Knights, Troopers, and Teal Sound.

Mike is the recipient of the Activities Teacher of the Year and Mary Beth Carroll Extra Miler award from Plymouth-Canton Community Schools for outstanding dedication and service to the students of the P-CEP Band Program.

Mike currently resides in Canton with his wife, Alyssa who is an accomplished Musicologist. Together they have a dog, Gustav, and two cats, Laszlo and Nandor. As an alumnus of P-CEP, Mike owes his passion for music to his time spent playing in the concert and marching ensembles of the Plymouth Canton Community Schools.

Marissa Weller - Associate Director of Bands

Marissa Weller is a music educator and conductor with experience in band and orchestral instruction. She currently serves as the Associate Director of Bands and Woodwind Specialist for Plymouth-Canton Educational Park (P-CEP) in Canton, Michigan.

Prior to her appointment at P-CEP, Marissa served as the Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Orchestras at Oxford High School in Oxford, Michigan. During her tenure, the Oxford Orchestras received consistent superior ratings at MSBOA events, and had a piece commissioned from Dr. Michael Hopkins, The Eternal Light. As the assistant band director, Marissa served as a co-teacher for the Symphonic and Concert bands. Marissa was also the woodwind technician and colorguard director for the Wildcat Marching Band, who consistently received high scores at Scholastic Marching Band events.

Committed to professional growth, Marissa has participated at numerous conducting workshops throughout the country at Northwestern University, The University of Colorado Boulder, The University of Minnesota, Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, and the Michigan Music Conference. She has worked with renowned conductors including Dr. Kevin Sedatole, Larry Livingston, Carl St. Clair, Mallory Thompson, Jamie Nix, Steve Davis, Michael Haithcock, Emily Threinin, Donald McKinney, and Craig Kirchoff.

As a clinician and speaker, Marissa has presented at prestigious conferences such as the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic and the Michigan Music Conference on topics related to resilience in music education. Marissa also serves as one of the instructors at Michigan State University’s Performing Arts Camp, mentoring young musicians in conducting and leadership skills. Additionally, she has been recognized for excellence in teaching, earning the 2022 MSBOA District 3 Teacher of the Year award.

Marissa holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Michigan State University. During her degree, she marched in the Spartan Marching Band, studied abroad in Ireland, and completed her student teaching internship in the Okemos Public Schools under the direction of Mark Stice and Kevin Culling.

Outside of music, Marissa enjoys spending time with her husband Jonah (a trombone player) and dog (Minnie), golfing, reading, and traveling.



Oliver Rodriguez - Associate Director of Bands

Oliver Rodriguez currently serves as an Associate of Director of Bands at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Percussion Performance from Michigan State University where he studied with Gwendolyn Dease and Jon Weber, in addition to, a Post-Baccalaureate teaching certification from Eastern Michigan University. He has previously worked as the Director of Percussion at Lakeland High School, Director of Huron Valley Percussion Ensemble, and an instrumental music instructor at Walled Lake Northern High School. In addition, he continues to write and arrange music for marching bands, concert bands, and percussion ensembles with his extra time.


Noah Bellamy - Jazz Band Director

Noah Bellamy is originally from Centerville, Ohio. After graduating from high school, Noah took part in a series of special studies at the internationally acclaimed University of North Texas. In 2002, Noah graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and then went on to receive his Masters in Music from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.

After marching with the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps in 1996, Noah went on to teach visual performance at Centerville High School. While serving as a visual specialist and caption head from 1997-2005 the band won 12 Bands Of America Regional Championships, as well as the high visual award at Grand National Championships in 2003.

In 2005, Noah moved to South Florida and began teaching at Miami Beach Senior High School, where he started a scholastic winter drumline program, as well as a percussion class that has been modeled by many other schools across the country through the published article entitled, 'Creating Student Involvement Through The Use Of Percussion Instruments.

It was in Florida that he began designing drill full time and working with many nationally recognized bands and ensembles. He is currently the visual designer for the consistent WGI World Class finalists, Infinity Percussion as well as for the 2010 and 2011 WGI Open Class Silver Medalist, Stryke Percussion (now PIW). In addition to being busy in the Winter, Noah also writes for a number of marching bands from around the country including Colorado, Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Ohio. He is also currently the drill designer for The Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps from Casper, Wyoming.

Noah currently lives in Canton, Michigan with his wife and two daughters where he serves as the visual caption head for the Plymouth Canton Educational Park Marching Band. Noah has worked with and/or written for groups that have made finals in every class in WGI as well as BOA and other marching circuits around the country. He maintains a busy schedule of writing drill, judging in both the Fall and the Winter, and consulting with various marching ensembles from around the world.

As a musician, Mr. Bellamy has a very diverse background and a long list of musical experiences. After traveling with KC and The Sunshine Band for six years, Noah went on to tour with people such as Barry Manilow,, Glorida Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine, and Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. He has recorded with various artists in South Florida and continues to play his trombone. Noah looks forward to working with both the marching band as well as heading up the jazz program at PCEP.
